The Sunday before Halloween turned out to be a washout with heavy rain. There was no way I could go on a hike to see the fall colors which were peaking in Northern Virginia. Since it was not cold in the least bit, I decided to take a short drive through scenic Leesburg under gloomy, grey skies. Right on James Monroe Hwy, a burst of bright oranges and yellows greeted me from the roadside beckoning me to stop and take a look. I turned back, parked my car and got out.

A creative arrangement of pumpkins graced the grounds and the building wall in front of Loudounberry Farm & Garden.

A barn building with animals stood at the back near a fenced area. Flower pots with fall mums and a vintage cart with wagon wheels and a striped awning greeted visitors at the entrance to the roadside farm-stand.

Different varieties of pumpkins and gourds, tomatoes, apples, and other local produce were on sale.

There were so many kinds of pumpkins. I didn’t know which one to choose!

The welcoming shop had shelves lined up with homemade goodies like jams and preserves, marinades, soup mixes and apple cider. This is a great place to pick up some fresh milk, non-GMO eggs, cheeses, cured meat and other healthy homestyle food.

There were nice gift items and dainty home decor.

A nursery at the back of the farmstead had a wooden cart laden with giant pumpkins and a straw horse, hanging lanterns, and other garden accents.

A row of bottles with rustic designs along the wall caught my eye.

You could carve a pumpkin and win their Pumpkin Competition on Instagram. Certainly on my bucket list for Halloween next year!
